ANIMALS V. ANIMALS: A FALSE CHOICE
"Harmony with land is like harmony with a friend;
you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his
left. That is to say, you cannot love game and
hate predators; you cannot conserve the waters
and waste the ranges; you cannot build the forest
and mine the farm. The land is one organism. Its
parts, like our own parts, compete with each other
and co-operate with each other. The competitions
are as much a part of the inner workings as the
co-operations." - Aldo Leopold

"SPAY DAY"
Once a month our participating veterinarians and volunteers meet and perform spays and neuters on
the feral or farm cats that have been registered as a colony and arranged to be brought in to one of our
participating Veterinarian Hospitals. Feral cats are trapped the night before, and cats that can be
handled are also placed in traps before they are brought in. It's the safest way to transport the cats and
to administer the necessary medications. After the surgery is completed, the cats are taken to a
recovery room where they stay until a veterinarian says it's safe for them to be returned. The cats stay
in the traps overnight and are released back to the wild the next day. The number of cats that can be
spayed or neutered on one day varies by how many are scheduled and how many are able to be
trapped. It can range from 40 to 70.
"A spay is being performed by
one of our participating vets."
"The recovery room is where the
cats are frequently checked to
make sure there are no
complications."

SIMPLIFIED SCRIP
How would you like to help our
organization by doing what we do
daily...spending money for groceries,
gasoline and other necessities?
The next time you fill up your tank, get some
groceries or do other shopping, check out the
Simplified Scrip website and see what area
businesses contribute a percentage of the sale
to non-profit organizations.
Many local area businesses accept Scrip. Scrip
is similar to a gift card, only it's a gift card to
yourself. Purchase these gift cards through
Scrip and by using them when you do your
shopping, we make money!
Some of the participating businesses are:
Gas - Amoco, Kwik Trip, Shell and Speedway
Groceries - Copps, Cub, Festival and Woodmans
Department Stores - JC Penneys, Wal-Mart,
K Mart, Sears, and Target
That's just a few. There are hundreds of places
to choose from. Just check out the website by
clicking here. Click on the New Customer link
and go from there. It's super easy, and a good
way to not have to dig for change at the
check-outs.
Send an email to me, Ann Knedle , and let me
know what you think of Simplified Scrip. I'll put
your testimony on the website to encourage
others to use it, too. Thanks!
